Essential Walking Gear Recommendations from TOG24 Influencers

As walking month draws to a close, we want to take the opportunity to share some words from a few of our long-term TOG24 influencers – keen walkers who love getting outside and exploring the UK, and whose outdoor gear opinion we value MASSIVELY. Here are 9 recommendations for essential walking gear from our Instagrammer friends – who know their stuff!

MARSDEN KNITLOOK FLEECE HOODY
RECOMENDED BY @devonflair

Getting out for a really long walk is one of those things that I HAVE to do at least once a week - regardless of the weather - which means having the right kit on hand. At this time of year, though, it’s pretty simple; a good wicking base layer and something to pull over the top once the BBQ is lit in those cooler evenings. The Marsden fleece hoodie is PERFECT for this and it’s fast become my favourite top layer – it’s literally the cosiest hoodie I’ve ever worn and it looks amazing in the Deep Port colourway!

BASE HOODED DOWN JACKET
RECOMENDED BY @amygatenbyy

My favourite walking item is the Base Womens Down Jacket, it's lightweight and perfect for any weather as you can layer it up or just pop it over a t-shirt. I also love that it folds up really small so you can just pop it into your backpack in case you need it!

My favourite outdoor clothing is my TOG24 rose pink down jacket - I can't stop wearing it. It’s super soft, very light and has a perfect fit. It always keeps me warm and cosy. And I’m in love with its beautiful colour and detailing.

DRAX DOWN JACKET
RECOMMENDED BY @TASMINLOFTHOUSE

The Drax down jacket has firmly become a staple item in my wardrobe - it's perfect for keeping warm on blustery mountain tops and on cold beach walks. Knowing how unpredictable the British weather can be, the lightweight design of the Drax jacket also means it's perfect for packing down and popping in my bag if the sun does decide to show it's face! It's fair to say, it's my favourite coat...and I'm a girl with a LOT of coats.

MCINTYRE WATERPROOF JACKET
RECOMMENDED BY @NATUREWITHTOM

When I visited Grange-over-Sands, the landscape was rugged, harsh and bare, yet truly beautiful. Good job I had my McIntyre Waterproof jacket on the day – because it was good old British weather at its best!

RIPLEY 3-IN-1 JACKET
RECOMMENDED BY @MEGBEAUDRY

I love that I can use my winter jacket in spring too! Great for taking the dog out.

STOWGATE HOODY
RECOMMENDED BY @HEARNYTRAVELS

The Stowgate hoodie I have on most of the time. It’s so soft and comfortable. I use it on cooler days when out walking or just for lounging around the house, and it looks great too.

KIRKELLA TECH TOP
RECOMMENDED BY @ROSE.MARIE.OUTDOORS

I was really impressed with the quality of this top, and I was pleased to find out the material blocked the wind... I was then a bit worried that this may compromise the breathability and wicking properties and leave me a hot mess on the inclines...but it doesn't! Result!

KELD SOFTSHELL JACKET
RECOMMENDED BY @RACHELSARAHM

When I'm out in the high mountains I like to wear bright colours, but any other time I enjoy going a lot more muted which is why I love wearing this coat. It also means I can get away with wearing it pretty much anywhere as it isn't too obviously outdoorsy. It's the perfect kind of weight for spring or autumn - not too warm, not too light - so I've really enjoyed wearing it on local walks these last few months.
